Rachel started learning the flute at the age of 13 in Belfast and then went on to study at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland formerly known as the RSAMD. After graduating Rachel enjoyed many years both performing as a freelance flautist, playing in chamber groups and teaching. At present Rachel holds the position of flute teacher at Hutchesons’ Grammar School in Glasgow and conducts various wind and flute ensembles.

Meet our conductors: Aisling Agnew
Aisling Agnew comes from Belfast. She initially learned the flute with Billy Dunwoody in the 39th Old Boys Flute Ensemble and, after studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (formerly RSAMD) and Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London, has gone on to form a busy and varied career performing internationally. Aisling has released several recordings and she works regularly with various ensembles including her long-standing Flute & Guitar Duo with Matthew McAllister.
Aisling also greatly enjoys teaching and directing flute ensembles and she holds the position of flute teacher at the University of St Andrews.
